Mount Rokkō 六甲山

These are some of the sites I met while getting lost on Mt. Rokkō. I had the luxury of time so I wandered about and made a game of finding what I call micro worlds and photographing them in such a way that it confuses our sense of proportion and scale just long enough for us to imagine ourselves among them. The Shin-Kobe Ropeway pictured here continues upward toward a higher point on mount Rokkō above the falls. Photographically I am playing with tilt shifting, selective focus and homemade filters.

  1. Photo of the ropeway brings back memories. We got lost on Mt. Rokko, too. This was during summer, when the ski lodges were closed. It was quite a hike to where the shops were. The workers in the restaurant were helpful in drawing a map to guide us back to the ropeway. Fun experience, anyway.

  2. Glad you found your way down, though I imagine there are worse places to be lost! Following directions in Japan is often a tricky business. . . but I have also found that staff and other hikers are super friendly - they even made you a map? That is helpful. . .
